There are people out there who dream about being where you are right now. Have gratitude, self reflection, self accountability, self awareness, critical think, be yourself, never give up, and you’ll become the person you dream about. Selling a $5M home 95% of the time will be much easier than a $200k home. Luxury real estate is a game of knowledge.
.) Don’t speak on things you don’t know or are unsure about. Nobody expects you to know everything. Just say “I’m not sure, let me get back to you on that”
.) Read the room. Now, this goes for life in general but is very important in real estate. Think about what you say before you say it. For example: you may think a rug is ugly but don’t bring that up to your buyers when walking through a home. Subconsciously, this may alter perceptions and cause a domino effect in your buyers mind about things that may be wrong with the home. I’ve had a buyer not purchase a property because they didn’t like the front door knob… this is drawn out but I hope I got the point somewhat across here. Just feel people out and don’t say things you don’t need to. If they ask, tell them how you feel, just don’t be the one bringing it up.
.) Never lie. You’ll always get caught in a lie. It’s just a matter of time - always shoot straight with your buyers or sellers but remember to read the room and it’s all about presentation.
.) Communicate well. How you say something can be more important in some circumstances than what you say.
.) Posture and mannerisms. Present yourself well and listen more than you speak.
.) Be yourself. People will like and do business with you because of who you are as an individual and if someone doesn’t like you, that’s their loss. Don’t ever try to be someone you’re not just to get business.
.) Be in the present.
.) Be selective. Now this is much harder when you’re starting out because you will want all the business you can get. Even the most annoying clients you will work with, they will teach you the most. Eventually in a year or two down the road, learn to be selective and read people. There have been multiple times I’ve not done business with individuals and dropped clients because of their arrogance. After being in the business and experiencing hellacious things, I have learned that the people who treat you like they don’t need you or respect you, are the first ones who will look to sue. Avoid them.
.) Comparison is the thief of joy.
.) Don’t trust other realtors to do your job. If you’re within a contract and the other realtor mentions they will handle something for you, you need to make sure it’s handled properly and gets completed. Never turn a blind eye and always keep track of what’s going on.
.) Your time is valuable. Don’t let people waste it.
.) Don’t stress, especially about things that are out of your control. Stress is only caused because you aren’t being proactive about the current situation. Learn to focus on one thing at a time and you’ll knock out everything you need to.
.) Focus on the details. Life is about the small things and business is about the attention to detail.
.) Live by your word. Have honor.
.) Surround yourself with people that will make you better.
.) Have self awareness, self accountability, self reflect, critical think, be open minded, and listen.
.) Find way and avenues to better yourself and always take the challenge. Learn to meditate, exercise, read more, have less self doubt, and focus on the micro goals ahead that will lead you to the doorstep of your macro goals.
.) No excuses. Never Give up. The people that don't make it in real estate are either bad agents or they quit to early. Don't ever be part of the masses. Think differently. Be the best. Challenge yourself. Give yourself time. You''ll make it.
